EU’s ALTENER program issues last call for proposals

The European Commission has finally announced the last call for proposals for its ALTENER and SAVE subsidy programs, which was originally intended for autumn 2001.

On Jan. 9, the European Commission published the call for proposals (CFP) in its official journal, and since Jan. 17 the application documents have been available on the Internet.

A total of
23.3 million ($20.8 million) will be available for projects that help to implement EU policy objectives for increasing the rational use of energy (SAVE) and the share of renewable energy sources (ALTENER) in the European Union. The money is not for technical R&D or demo installations, but for studies, education and training activities, scientific exchange, and promotional campaigns.

The CFP is open to private and public entities in the EU, European Economic Area (EEA), and countries seeking membership in the EU. The funding needs to be at least 50 percent co-financed by the applicants. The deadline for proposals is Apr. 3, 2002 at 12:00 am. ms, js
