The Israeli integrator SolarPower Ltd. has started a marketing campaign for solar streetlights in Israel. In December, the Tel-Mond-based company installed five streetlights with a total capacity of 600 W at a parking lot in Karmiel and is working on future projects, says SolarPower´s CEO Alon

Lonely souls: Missing subsidies keep the market for PV in Israel very small. Shown here, a handful of solar streetlights at a parking lot in

The company is focusing on stand-alone systems, as PV is not funded at all in Israel, he explains. Even though Tamari doesn't expect this situation to change in the near future, he thinks the Israeli market for PV is growing due to increasing demand from the private sector. Tamari estimates that 40 to 50 kW of solar power is installed in Israel every year, most of it in the form of stand-alone
systems.
