Connecticut to start $2 million residential PV rebate program
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) has approved $2 million for a three-year residential PV rebate program for systems up to 5 kW. At $5 per W, the money will be enough for 400 kW of installations in the Northeastern
state.
This complements a $5 per W rebate program for PV systems ranging from 5 to 40 kW on commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings (see PI 2/2004, p. 20).
Grants for systems in the residential program, capped at $25,000, will be provided to approved installers, not the end-users. Awards, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, will be limited to installers selected through a request-for-proposals process. At press time, CCEF would say only that the first RFP for $500,000 would be issued
»in the near future.«
CCEF, an investment fund created in 1998 by the Connecticut General Assembly to promote the development and use of clean energy in the state, is financed by a surcharge on ratepayers' electric utility
bills.
