Mastervolt expands inverter production to 100 MW

Holland-based Mastervolt BV plans shipments of over 40,000 solar inverters with a power rating of around 100 MW next year. This would be more than a tripling of the targeted sales for 2004, which at 12,000 devices is equal to about 30 MW.

Made in Holland: Inverters of Dutch company Mastervolt are produced by power electronics manufacturer Nedap in Groenlo.

In order to manage this increase in output, production capacity will be more than doubled. In addition to the domestic manufacturing capacity, which will have risen to 45 MW by the end of the year, a further 55 MW per year is to be produced in Poland, where operation at full capacity is slated by the end of the year.

Up to now inverters were solely manufactured by power electronics manufacturer Nedap Power Supplies BV in Holland. Mastervolt won't be manufacturing its own inverters in Poland, either, but is will leave this job to an unnamed associate of Nedap. In the future the whole inverter production is to be relocated to Poland, whereas products such as charge regulators for maritime and mobile use shall continue to be made in Holland.
