Market survey on global cell and module production in 2004

Solar report sees undamped PV market growth 
The first fundamental study of the global PV market authored by a financial analyst should bring tears of joy to the eyes of the solar industry. The Sun Screen report from Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia (CLSA) deems the quickly growing PV industry a sector in a state of evolution that is hardly going to stop. With 15 priority solar investment opportunities recommended in the study, the bankers hope to attract the big money from fund managers.

Three years of the PPVX: Sun outstrips oil
Shortly after the start of the PHOTON Photovoltaic Stock Index three years ago, it appeared that a lot of its listed companies had been valued too highly. Therefore even after colossal growth over the last six months, the PPVX hasn't managed to achieve the initial issue value of 1,000 points. But it is developing brilliantly at the moment and under such favorable conditions, one can soon count on more PV companies going public.

Solar cell production increases significantly in 2002
The PV industry has continued to soar in 2002. Judging by responses from the leading manufacturers to PHOTON International's annual market survey on solar cell production, we estimate a minimum total production of 540 MW in 2002 – a 35 percent growth compared to 2001, when 401.4 MW was produced.

World production for solar cells grew 40 percent in 2001
The world production of solar cells for terrestrial power applications grew 39.7 percent to 401.4 megawatts. This is the most important finding of a survey published in the March issue of PHOTON International - The Photovoltaic Magazine.
