GE replaces head of solar unit

Ali Iz, general manager of GE Energy's solar technologies division since the company took over bankrupted PV manufacturer AstroPower in March 2004, surprisingly has moved on to another, as yet undefined position within the company. 

According to Iz, his focus will be on »partnership opportunities«. GE would not comment on rumors that Iz was replaced because he did not secure sufficient silicon for supplying the company's cell lines. The new acting general manager is Larry Crane from GE's solar division.
