New leadership at Schott Applied Power Corporation

Just two weeks prior to an announcement by the German company Schott Glas that it will invest in RWE Solar GmbH, its American subsidiary Schott Applied Power Corporation (SAPC) has appointed a new president.

Thomas Starrs, a lawyer, took over in March from Sam Vanderhoof, who joined SAPC only last year from the inverter manufacturer Trace (see PI 3/2001, p. 29) and left for undisclosed reasons.

Actively involved with several renewable energy lobby groups in the US, Starrs has also been a member of the SAPC board since 1998. He is co-founder of Kelso Starrs and Associates LLC, an energy and consulting firm based in Vashon Island, Washington.

Starrs holds a law degree from UC-Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law and a Ph.D from Berkeley's Energy & Resources Group. ms
