Shell game: Wolfgang Lange replaces Andreas Pawlik as head of Shell Solar GmbH.

The job opened up when Shell decided to shift Lange's predecessor Andreas Pawlik into the newly created position of lobbyist for Shell Solar at the European level. Lange, who admits he has no direct experience working with PV, was previously managing director at a German company involved with sheet metal processing. Prior to that, he worked for Shell in developing fuels, coordinating with the automobile industry, and marketing concepts for gas stations in German-speaking countries. He expects to use his experience in »innovative technologies and making products marketable« in his new role. The 41-year-old engineer plans to build on Pawlik's efforts to close the gap between sales of turnkey systems and components. Lange's first task, however, »will be to get an overview of [Shell Solar]...and whether we have the products our customers want.«
