On the job: Bob Johnson, left, talks shop with Gianni Silvestrini, the former head of Italy's PV roofs program, at the Rome PV conference in October.

»With great affection for the industry and its people, I'm looking forward to remaining active in PV with work on a pet project in market development and transition support to Strategies,"« said Johnson in early April. In 1974, after working on steam turbine propulsion for the US Navy and project engineering on nuclear fuel plates with General Electric, Johnson started in the PV field, doing market and product development at the PV start-up Solar Energy Systems in the US state of Delaware, which was seeking to commercialize CdS/CuS thin-film technology.

Johnson's replacement is Neil Dunay, a market researcher for nearly 20 years who has worked at Strategy's sister company, KMI Research, for the past five years covering the fiberoptic cable and optical equipment markets. Strategies Unlimited publishes highly reputed annual PV reports on shipments and global sales. Solar Flare, which had appeared six times per year, has been downsized to a quarterly for 2003.
