De Renzy-Martin: After swallowing the Siemens Solar elephant as the head of Shell Solar, he is moving back to the Shell Oil giant.

He will become regional vice president for France/Iberia and general manager of Shell's Paris-based French subsidiary Butagaz. Prior to his tenure at Shell Solar, de Renzy-Martin worked for Shell Oil in Chile, Saudi Arabia, and Rotterdam.

De Renzy-Martin, who started at Shell Solar as COO, became executive vice president when Shell bought out Siemens Solar in Jan. 2002 (see PI 2/2002, 13) – a takeover de Renzy-Martin once compared to swallowing an elephant in an interview with PHOTON International (see PI 3/2002, 16). He also oversaw the shutdown of a module factory in Munich, Germany and a module and cell facility in Helmond, Holland (see PI 12/2002, p. 12).

As of late July, Shell had not named a successor to head its solar operations. Shell Solar is a division of Shell Renewables, one Shell's five core groups.
