Phoenixtec adds to its Sunville range

Taiwanese Phoenixtec Power Co. Ltd. is adding three units to its inverter assortment in order to fill the gaps between those on offer so far, and also to boost the upper range of the power ratings.

Thanks to a housing with protection type IP 65, the new Sunville 6000 is the first inverter from Phoenixtec that is suitable for outdoor use.

The Sunville 1500 lies between the Sunville 1000 and the Sunville 2000, as it has an AC nominal power of 1.5 kW – in fact it replaces the 1000 version, which is now only manufactured on request (orders must be larger than 500 units). The Sunville 2800 has a nominal power of 2.8 kW and fills the gap between the Sunville 2000 and the Sunville 4000 models. And last but not least, the new big version, Sunville 6000, has an AC nominal power rating of 4.6 kW; the peak rating is 5.1 kW. Unlike all the small devices, which have one MPP tracker, the new top model is kitted out with three MPP trackers. This allows for independent operation of solar generators of different designs or situated in unfavorable shading conditions.

The new models have a maximum efficiency of 96 percent – only the smallest model, Sunville 1500, achieves one percentage point less with 95 percent. The European efficiency levels each lie about 2 percentage points below that level. The new Sunville inverters also have the same basic design as the previous models – a transformerless concept with an added boost converter – and work with a passive cooling system without the use of a fan.

The units are also still fitted with an illuminated LCD and an RS 232 interface for reading energy yield data and fault reports, as well as for inputting configuration changes. Also optionally available is an RS 485 interface, which allows several units from the Sunville model range to be connected to the new data logger Sunville EZ. The units will be on the market in Europe as of the end of August or in September (Sunville 6000) through the German company Suntension GmbH. Asian customers must order directly from Phoenixtec; there are currently no plans for sales to the US.
