Sunways introduces a three-phase 10 kW inverter
At the Intersolar trade fair in Freiburg in June, Sunways AG introduced an inverter in the 10 kW power category with a three-phase feed-in
– the NT 10000.

On closer examination, the technical data looks very familiar: the DC input voltage range of 350 to 750 V is equivalent to that of the single-phase devices sold up to now (the new generation of the single-phase NT units will have an input voltage range up to 850 V). This suggests a topology that is like the single-phase units. The NT 10000 is therefore not a
»real« three-phase inverter, but rather a combination of three single-phase inverter bridges in one casing.
Still this configuration has advantages over employing three separate devices. For example the input capacitor can be kept significantly smaller, and there only has to be one of each of the components for inverter control, data transfer and visualization, as well as for grid monitoring.
Apart from being three-phase, the NT 10000 is a typical Sunways inverter: it features the HERIC technology, which reduces internal losses, yielding not only a high maximum efficiency of 97 percent, but also particular advantages in the part-load efficiency. According to information from the manufacturer, the NT 10000 achieves its maximum efficiency with a load of only 25 percent. This steep rise is also reflected in the European efficiency, which is just over half a percentage point less.
On the DC side of things, the NT 10000 is the same as three single-phase units: a solar generator with a maximum power of 3.6 kW can be connected to each of the three DC inputs, each of which has its own MPP tracker. Here, a maximum current of 10 A is allowed.
The NT 10000 is also »communicative«: the unit has an illuminated LCD, and solar irradiation and temperature sensors can be attached optionally. System generation data is available via an RS 232, an RS 485, or a USB interface, however an Ethernet interface, much loved of late, is not available. A potential-free fault indicator is also present.
At a weight of 30 kg, the NT 10000 is not exactly light, but also not much heavier than the single-phase NT units, which each weigh 26 kg. The NT 10000 is available as of September in Europe, particularly in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Spain.
