The new EP 100 modules from Solarwatt,
identical to those from energie bau köln designated as
type ebk 100, are now on the market. |

Deliveries will begin in March, according to energie bau's
Michael Schäfer. Solarwatt, a firm from Dresden, Germany, is manufacturing the
modules. Subject to the production quality class of the EFG solar cells
manufactured and delivered by ASE, three wattage classes are available – 100
W, 105 W, and 110 W. Solarwatt includes the module in its catalog, but sells it
with the type designation EP 100.72 GEG LK.
With a performance tolerance of plus/minus 3 percent, the
standard set by ASE, which offers its own modules using EFG cells, can be
maintained. The modules have an aluminum frame, but can also be ordered directly
from Solarwatt without frame, albeit with a second pane of glass instead of the
backside foil. By using this technology, Solarwatt joins the ranks of those few
companies offering glass-glass modules. The modules each have three bypass
diodes and a multi-contact plug, as well as protection class II and the IEC
61215 certification. Solarwatt offers a 20-year guarantee for 80 percent of the
nominal power.
The cost of the module, about 12 DM ($5.75 USD) per watt, is a
bit on the high end.
