Studer expands its HP Compact stand-alone inverter series
In August, Swiss manufacturer Studer Innotec introduced the most powerful stand-alone inverter yet in its HP Compact series. The HP Compact 7048 has a nominal power of 7 kW, but can handle three times that for a period of five seconds. The inverter transforms direct current from a 48 V battery into 230 V of alternating
current.

Moreover, the device can recharge the battery with energy from an AC source, for instance a diesel generator. The integrated battery charger functions at a maximum of 90 A until the device reaches its end-of-charge voltage.
Studer no longer offers charge controllers for products in its HP Compact series
– though it still does for devices in its AJ and XP series. Demand was simply too low, explains Studer employee Serge Rémy. If customers want to charge the battery with solar electricity, they have to buy an additional charge controller from another manufacturer.
The HP Compact products housing complies with protection type IP 20 and is only suitable for indoor use. The company offers a two-year guarantee on the device, which has a suggested retail price of EUR4,694 ($5,476) before taxes. It is available worldwide.
