Integrated thin-films: Würth's 70 W CIS module is now available also for BIPV applications.

The thin-film module has a nominal power of 70 W and is based on the compound semiconductor CIS. For stability reasons, the cover glass of the roof-integrated module (WS11007/4 mm TVG) is 1 mm thicker than that of the rooftop module. Special hooks, attached to wooden slats, allow the modules to be integrated into the roof in an overlapping pattern. Vertical stripes made of synthetic material and rubber, as well as connection endplates, guarantee the modules are watertight after installation. The new system was developed with Swiss Sustainable Systems AG in Bern, and is the same as the Swiss company's MegaSlate solar roof tile, which contains crystalline solar cells. Würth offers a 980 W system (14 modules, an inverter, and mounting material) for a retail price of €5,500 ($6,370) before taxes. The product can be ordered worldwide.
