Bernt Lorentz expands Etatrack series with two new models

The one-axis tracking system Etatrack active 1000, from Bernt Lorentz GmbH & Co KG, has two new siblings: the smaller Etatrack active 400, which has been available since January, can accommodate around 4 m2 of module surface area and therefore around 400 and 500 W, depending on module type. These two systems were joined by a larger model, the Etatrack active 1500, which is designed for a maximum of 15 m2 and around 2 kW.

Growth: The Etatrack active 400 and Etatrack active 1500 expand Bernt Lorentz GmbH's product range.

Both systems essentially share the same technical construction: sensorless control, automatic east-west tracking (azimuth) with 90° pivoting angle as well as a manually adjustable vertical angle of between 0° and 45°. In the case of the 1500 type, the module tray is supported by a diagonal guard on the tower. According to the manufacturer, the smaller system can withstand wind speeds of 120 km/h, while the larger brushes aside winds at 150 km/h.

The Etatrack series, which initially consisted of just two passive thermohydraulic-driven systems, was originally designed to provide electricity to Bernt Lorentz's solar pump systems. This explains the system's ability to function in an off-grid environment. The electronic components and servomotor are driven by solar modules with 24 V of operating power. The 400 model is designed for smaller pumps and can be easily shipped: »That works also by airfreight,« says company employee Martin Schulze.

On the other hand, Schulze says that the design of the large Etatrack device is not only for stand-alone systems, but is »also a reaction to what is currently being done in Germany.« The device is aimed at helping to fuel the market for grid-connected systems on undeveloped areas. Until now, the systems haven't sold, but negotiations are underway for initial projects. The manufacturer is convinced that the first large-scale Etatrack system will come on line this year. The pretax price for all Etatrack active systems is nearly €855 ($1,132) per kW system power (including delivery).
